Shield of Faith

The shield of faith protects us
Against the devil's blows.
With words of evil he attacks;
He is a mighty foe.

His words come hot and furious,
Like flaming arrow heads.
He wishes nothing more for us
Than to see our spirits dead.

With words of condemnation
He commences his attack;
Then fear and accusation;
He holds nothing back.

Discouragement and worry,
Temptation, hate and doubt;
His arsenal has plenty
To try and take us out.

But the arrows that he fires our way,
Are nothing but pure lies,
Intended to destroy our faith,
And cause our hope to die.

And so, we take the shield of faith,
To extinguish those fiery brands.
We trust our Mighty, Living God,
And on His Truth we stand.
