I am in the Old and New,

Fifteen times, and then plus two.

Though I was the first to show,

I am always first to go.

When the Lord declared His wrath,

Covered did become my path.

And when the Lord was calm once more,

I returned, just like before.

By my loss, all men do fear.

In the storm, I bring great cheer.

I wander on from here to there,

Yet, never travel anywhere.

A thousand miles I see each day;

Although my home is here to stay.

Every body knows my name;

Yet, to me, they're all the same.

Each one differs in its force,

But in the end, I stop its course.

I served the massive multitude;

Although, to me, they gave no food.

Many teachings I beheld;

Upon my back, their weight I held.

But of the teachings that I heard,

I never perceived a single word.

I'm the beginning and the end;

Around great bodies do I bend.

There's one more hint that I will leave,

And then my name, you may perceive.

Even though my face does change,

Never is my essence strange.

Now go search the Holy Book;

In the Scriptures, take a look.

You will find my name in there;

But, I will not tell you where.
